Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: August 25, 2026
This policy is part of the Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses CarTour — shoppers, dealerships and dealership staff. It describes what is not allowed, how to report it, and what we do about it.
The short version: list real cars honestly, treat people decently, and leave the platform alone.
Listings must be honest
Do not:
- list a vehicle you do not have, do not own, or have no right to sell;
- advertise a price, payment or term you will not honour, or use a price to draw a shopper in and then steer them to a different vehicle (bait and switch);
- misstate mileage, condition, VIN, title status, accident or flood history, or whether a vehicle is a salvage, rebuilt, lemon-law buyback or former rental;
- omit or misstate the warranty disclosure, or contradict the Buyers Guide displayed on the vehicle;
- hide mandatory fees, dealer add-ons or conditions from the advertised price;
- present stock, borrowed or AI-generated imagery as video of the actual vehicle;
- leave sold, withdrawn or unavailable vehicles listed;
- post duplicate listings for the same vehicle to gain placement, or list the same VIN across multiple accounts.
Content standards
Do not post, upload or send:
- content that is unlawful, fraudulent or deceptive;
- harassment, threats, intimidation, or targeting of an individual;
- hate speech, or content attacking people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or veteran status;
- obscene, sexually explicit, or gratuitously violent material;
- content that infringes copyright, trademark, privacy or publicity rights — including music you do not have the rights to use in a walkaround video;
- anyone's personal information without their consent, or a person identifiable in your footage who has not agreed to appear;
- spam, chain messages, or advertising for anything other than the vehicle in the listing;
- malware, or links to it.
Behaviour
Do not:
- impersonate another person, dealership or CarTour itself;
- send false, automated or bulk inquiries, or use inquiries to solicit dealerships;
- discriminate against a shopper on any basis protected by federal, state or local law;
- use a shopper's contact details for anything other than the inquiry they sent, or sell or transfer lead data to anyone else;
- share account credentials, or keep access to a dealership account after leaving that dealership.
The platform itself
Do not:
- scrape, crawl, index or bulk-harvest listings, media, dealership details or contact information, by any means, automated or manual;
- use listing data to build a competing product or dataset;
- reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive our source code;
- circumvent rate limits, authentication, access controls or the dealership boundary that keeps one dealership's data out of another's reach;
- probe or test our security without our prior written permission, or disrupt the Service for anyone else;
- use automated tools to create accounts, or create an account after we have terminated one of yours.
If you have found a security vulnerability, we want to hear about it. Write to support@cartour.app with the details and give us a reasonable opportunity to fix it before disclosing it. We will not pursue anyone who reports in good faith and does not access other people's data.
Reporting a problem
Every listing in the app has a Report action. Use it — a report attached to the listing reaches us with the context already included.
You can also write to support@cartour.app. Tell us what you saw, where, and what is wrong with it. For copyright specifically, follow the procedure in the Copyright and DMCA Policy, because that one has legal requirements a normal report does not.
We review reports promptly — typically within 24 hours. Content found to violate this policy is removed and the responsible account is actioned.
What we do about violations
Depending on what happened, how serious it is and whether it has happened before, we may:
- remove or unpublish the content;
- warn the account;
- restrict features — for example, suspending the ability to publish new listings;
- suspend the account;
- terminate the account, and any related accounts;
- report the matter to law enforcement or a state licensing authority.
Serious violations — fraud, threats, sexual content involving minors, attacks on the platform — result in immediate termination without warning. We may act without notice where notice would let harm continue.
Repeat copyright infringers are terminated, as described in the Copyright and DMCA Policy.
Terminating a dealership account does not entitle it to a refund of subscription fees. See the Dealer Subscription Agreement.
If you think we got it wrong
Write to support@cartour.app within 30 days, from the email address on the account, and tell us what was removed and why you believe it complied. A person will look at it again. We will not hold a good-faith appeal against you.
Changes
We may update this policy as new problems appear. Material changes are posted here with a new date.
